This week, our Challenger comes from
Prudent Politics. When asked who he would like to challenge, he offered this in explanation.
Iron Blogger Libertarian - I have very libertarian leanings, and used to be a member of the Libertarian Party, but they've really dropped the ball with regards to national defense, in my opinion. There are other issues I disagree with "big 'L'" Libertarians on, but that's one of them.
Cody Hatch, I have granted your request.
Iron Blogger Libertarian, Vinod Valloppillil, you have been called to the field of battle. May you once more stand victorious and continue the winning ways of my Iron Bloggers.
If memory serves me right, the death of a very influential President has stirred debate in our country over many topics. The Cold War, Communism, Iran-Contra - indeed the last of those made a cameo appearance in our most recent battle. But these are not the topics I am interested in. No, I am thinking of the one that has the Republican Party divided, the Senate disagreeing with the White House. The Topic for the Battle is this:
Stem Cell Research
Are the Bush standards acceptable? Should more avenues of embryo harvesting be made accessible, as Nancy Reagan has asked? And most interestingly, what should be done with these stem cells? Many talk of a day when organ donation will be unnecessary, as we will all have kidneys on tap, grown from stem cells. Where do we draw the lines? Let us see what our combatants have to say.
Allez debate!
