Greetings and Salutations.
First, I'd like to remind everyone that we will resume the battles on Sunday - and here's a hint of what's in store: In his first appearance, Iron Blogger Libertarian Vinod Valloppillil will be taking on a Challenger who happens to be married to one of our other Iron Bloggers. I've already decided on the Topic, and after Battle Torture this will make heads spin as we pull a hard 360. Stay tuned!
Next, it's time for repeat shameless groveling. As I mentioned previously, I have a computer again (yay!) but it's a Pentium I 166mhz (boo!). I can upgrade it to a P III with 256mb RAM for $120 (yay!), but I don't have $120 (boo!). If only 12 readers chip in $10 via the Paypal button above, I can upgrade this dinosaur into an actual computer. Any donations beyond that will go to getting blogads on other blogs, helping to increase our readership. Even if you don't have $10, you can help us by recruiting new sponsors and patrons (I still worship at the altar of Big Dan) or by emailing big blogs you read, like Daily Kos, Atrios, Andrew Sullivan or Instapundit and telling them how spiffy we are and how they should help support our non-partisan effort to increase the dialogue in this world. It's for a good cause. I've emailed all of them, but I'm one voice. If enough of you email them, they might actually notice.
And now, here's what I think is interesting in my regular reading list:
On the Left, we have an amusing chart
over at Atrios, courtesy of the Hoeffel for Senate campaign that explains the Medicare Drug Bill recently passed by Congress. Many on both sides of the aisle oppose this bill, yet somehow it passed, and I think Lefties and Righties alike can share in a good laugh at the illustration.
Kos is watching the SD at Large House special election race
, which may end up being rather anti-climactic with the GOP candidate already quietly turning his focus on the November general. It'll be interesting to see what the final numbers are and how each side spins them.
The Hamster has an interesting piece from TIME
about how AG Ashcroft may be falling out of favor with the Bush Administration. In true Hamster snarkiness, he has a career suggestion for Ashcroft if he does end up on the outs.
On the Right, my blogroll is a bit slim in the pickings as several of my regular reads are on vacation from Memorial Day, but our very own Iron Blogger Republican has a fascinating excerpt from an interview
with the last surviving military leader of the heroic Jewish Uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943. Truly great stuff.
Also, Instapundit has a link
to an author who may be proving there was an Al-Qaeda/Saddam connection afterall. Definitely some food for thought.
And lastly, Andrew Sullivan points out how The Onion
is obviously ripping off Iron Blog with a 'Should Rumsfeld Resign?' bit. He also has a few positive thoughts
on Iraq, and more blatant Iron Blog idea-theft as this time he
shamelessly rides our coattails on the Gay Marriage issue. I highly doubt he'd have even mentioned it if not for our ground breaking debate on that very subject.
Or I could just be getting deluded with my newfound power.
